Tips for Buying LCD and Plasma

Do take note that LCD screens smaller than 32″ are considered LCD monitors. The screen size is measured diagonally.
Presented below are seven buying tips.

Check out the viewing angle. Make sure the image remains watchable when viewed from off-centre.

If you want to receive high-definition programming you will need a set with a digital video input (either DVI or HDMI) and HDCP compatibility.

Be aware that plasma sets are cheaper for larger screen sizes.

Don’t buy a set that’s too big for your room. For a 32-inch set you should be able to sit at least six feet away, or the structure of the picture will be evident. For a 42-inch set you need at least 10 feet between you and the screen.

Intergrated tuner, Often the plasma or LCD panels come with a seperate box to house the tuner. Hoever it is neater to have an intergrated one.

Scart Sockets, these are standard method of connecting DVD palyers, VCRs, Playstations and such likes. Thus the more Scart sockets on your system, the more gadgetry you can plug in. Also if used as a PC monitor, you will need a set with suitable PC inputs.

An increasing number of system now feature memory card slots. This allows you to view MPEG movies without the hassle of hooking up your cameras or camcorder.
