Dell W4201C is Dell’s latest Plasma television offerring in the 42 inch catergory. This model is similar to Dell W4200HD in terms of features and performances thought there are improvement in W4201C.

Dell W4201C plasma television main features and performances, as obtained from Dell’s websites are listed below.

The W4201C as in W4200C, the TV tuners are built in and there are two numbers of tuner. These allow the sets to receive digital or analog signals. Both models also come with two 40 watts speakers (detacheable) which helps to provide cinematic audio experience. And if this is not enought there is ample connection options for external audio and video devices. However the DVI connector is absent in the W4201C which is available in the W4200HD. Anyway it can still be connected to the PC via the VGA port. There is a seperate input for PC audio too. This will be great for gaming

One thing I am suprised to learn is the pixel pitch. It is a smaller value in W4200HD than W4201C and from what I learnt, a smaller pitch produce sharper pictures. So the thing that suprised me is this, as W4201C is the latest model, I would expect that it’s pixel pitch to be smaller than W4200HD. I guess this diffrence is minor and would not affect the picture quality of W4201C, which Dell claimed the following “. . . spectacular High Definition picture quality with bright, vivid images and superd contrast. . . “. Yes, contrast wise, W4201C has a much improved contrast ratio of 10,000 : 1 as compared to W4200HD which has only 2300:1. Further more the W4201C is brighter too with 1100 nits as compared to 430 nits in W4200HD. Thus not a problem viewing in well lit rooms

It would be really nice to own a W4201C. The stylish and sleek look will make it an attractive centerpiece in the living room. Dell offers three options for W4201C and these are:

1. Just the Essentials
2. Experience Entertainment
3. Install it on the Wall

And the price starts from $2500 for “Just The Essential” package to $3000 plus for the “Install It On The Wall”. Unfortunately at this moment Dell Plasma television series is only availble in mainland USA. Hopefully Dell will make it available world wide just like it’s LCD series. If that happens, W4201C will surely be in my short list.
