Will LCD Tech Kill Plasma?

Just came across an article on the above subject. Perhaps this question, that is will LCD replaces Plasma one day in the future had been asked before. And according to SHARP, the answer is a clear yes.
Why is SHARP so certain? well for one simple reason, LCD technology is fast catching up with plasma in areas of contrast, handling of fast movement and and viewing angles. And if not already caught up it will surpass plasma technology too. And quoting SHARP’s rep from the interview in the article:
“I think each technology has its own merits. Plasma traditionally has been better at producing a good contrast ratio. You can find very good qualities in both, starting from colour production, viewing angles, handling of fast motion. Nowadays the two are very comparable,”
And to back this up SHARP recently unvieled a 20mm thick! LCD TV with 100,00 : 1 contrast Ratio in IFA 2007. Well after looking at it (pic above) you can’t but agree with SHARP’s view but I believed ardent plasma fans might not.
