Flat TVs - All About LCD and Plasma TVs

Samsung up the competition by developing a 70 inch LCD screen. Currently this is the world largest. It is a full HD meaning it can display resolution of 1080p. It is twice clearer than existing HD LCDs and refreshes at 120 Hz (120 times per second) thus will not suffer “ghosting” of images in fast action scenes that had been one of the problems with LCD TVs. Currently most LCD TVs refresh at 60 Hz.

The new panel won’t be available until the first half of next year and Samsung plans to show the prototype at the International Meeting on Information Displays 2006 technical conference that is taking place next week in South Korea.

Before this, the largest LCD display is a 65-incher from Sharp Electronics.
