Sony Calling It Quits
That’s quiting the Plasma TV market. Reasons cited declining orders and low-profit. Therefore it will be concentrating on the LCD TV production where it had already contracted the construction on an eighth-generation LCD plant.
This should start production in 2007. With this Sony also hopes to boost LCD sales. Well lets hope this translate to more LCD TV in the market and hopefully lower prices too

Sony to halt PDP-TV production
Katsumi Ihara, executive deputy president of Sony’s procurement strategies and TV & video business, recently stated that the company will stop producing PDP (plasma display panel) TVs, but Sony expects to increase the shipment ratio of its 40-inch and above LCD TVs to more than 50% by the end of 2006, according to a report from the Chinese-language website Sina.com.
